NEW LIONS FOR BONGANI MOUNTAIN LODGE

Bongani Mountain Lodge in Mpumalanga, a property managed by Tourvest’s African Hotels and Adventures (AHA), has procured two lionesses for release in the Mthethomusha Game Reserve.

The lionesses were captured by the Mpumalanga Parks and Tourism Association on 26 July this year and are currently being kept in the reserve’s game capture boma until they are fully habituated to the area. Once the reserve’s wildlife managers are happy with their progress the lionesses, aged two and five years, will be released into the wild to join a three year old male lion released into the same reserve earlier this year.

The 8 000 hectare Mthethomusha Game Reserve is world renowned for its San rock art. Characterised by prominent granite outcrops and crags, it is home to three distinct varieties of woodland flora and a wide variety of mammals and birds.

Neil Bald, managing director, said the lions would further improve the quality of game viewing in the reserve. “Our guests will also be able to enjoy a close viewing of the lionesses while they are being kept in the boma,” he said.

Bongani Mountain Lodge offers one suite and 38 rooms designed in a timber and thatch motif. Twenty-nine rooms have double beds with ten of these containing a sleeper couch. The other nine rooms have twin beds, making the lodge an ideal venue for weddings or for a family holiday, particularly those families with children. The lodge also has a spa specialising exclusively in Africology skincare products.
