About us - Our Strategy
Tourvestís financial performance is subject to two key factors: our local travel operation is dependant on the volume of activity in the local market while our other businesses depend on the amount of money spent in Southern Africa by overseas tourists, with our financial services division dependant equally on both sectors. To maximize the commercial opportunity, our aim is to build equity in multiple brands and to target diverse customer segments via five focused divisions.
At the same time, whilst growing its Southern African businesses, Tourvest is expanding its offshore exposure in order to reduce its reliance on a single market and currency. This has lead to the growth of its inflight duty free operation which was recently awarded the British Airways global concession for inflight retail, as well as Vueling, the largest low-cost carrier in Southern Europe based in Barcelona.
Following the 2010 World Cup where Tourvest managed the entire travel arrangements for more than 70 000 visitors, an office has been opened in Brazil with an eye to the 2014 World Cup.
